The red pin is the World War II memorial itself.
There are three yellow pins. The first to the west of the World War II memorial is Pearl Harbor. The yellow pin to the west of Pearl Harbor is Midway Atoll.
To the east of the red pin is a yellow pin which marks Normandy, France. Each of the blue pins surrounding Normandy, mark the beaches where troops landed on D-Day.
My second map marks American World War II cemeteries around the world. There are fourteen pins in total. This map provides as a visual of how far American loss during World War II extended around the world.
